Your tasks:

You set up, develop and manage a brand new breeding program.
You use, innovate and optimize breeding schemes by using state-of-the-art breeding technologies for the development and selection of high-quality commercial successful varieties.
You (co)operate with internal groups of breeding, research, commercial and production.
You bring your ideas to and support scientific research projects.
Set up, develop and manage, support and direct a breeding team.

Knowledge, skills and experience:

MSc/PhD in plant breeding or genetics.
In depth working knowledge of horticulture, agronomy, genetics, pathology, physiology and molecular genetics.
Minimum two years of experience in plant breeding.
Experience in management, team playing, organization and planning.
Computer skills (data management, management information systems, databases, spread sheets).
Language skills: English (must) and preferably the local language.
Ability to work independently
Communication skills

Besides an academic level of thinking, we are looking for a very practical candidate who is not afraid of dirty hands and feet in the field. You must also be willing to travel abroad.
